Web Productivity Unit 0 Activity 1
You will be working with at least three web-based tools during this course, and you will need to get accounts for these services. They include:
- Google Apps/Google Drive -- your school district may have a Google Apps account already set up for you. For example, at TIE our web address is tie.net, but we set up a separate Google Apps area at tiegapps.net, so my account is firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, the South Dakota K12 system set up a Google Apps area for any districts who participate by switching on the service: my Google Apps account with K12 is email@example.com. If your district has Google Apps and you have an account, you are all set. If you do not have a Google Apps account with your school, you will need to create a personal Google Drive account here.
- Microsoft has responded to Google with their own set of online services called OneDrive (formerly called SkyDrive). If your school has switched on this service, you are set to go. If you have a personal Hotmail account (or outlook.com or live.com), you are already set up as well. Otherwise, you will need to create a Microsoft account at https://signup.live.com
- Dropbox is a popular service for storing and sharing files. You will need an account for this class, so if you do not have one go to https://www.dropbox.com/ and click Sign Up. You can use alternatives like Box.com.
For this class, you will need to bookmark/favorite your access to these tools (or post in a web page, Symbaloo, or Diigo) so it is easy to login on a regular basis:
